Forestry
ANAB Accreditation for Forestry Standards
Third-party forest certification provides assurance to
purchasers of paper and wood products that these goods come from
well-managed and legally harvested forests. ANAB has accreditation
programs for Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and the American
Tree Farm System (ATFS) standards.
A CB must conform to ISO/IC 17021 and be accredited for ISO
14001 by ANAB or a signatory of the IAF MLA for environmental
management systems prior to applying for SFI accreditation. A CB
must also be accredited by ANAB (or the Standards Council of
Canada) to perform SFI 2005-2009 forest management certification
audits prior to applying for ATFS accreditation.
SFI and ATFS are base standard programs in ANAB's fee schedule.
Please refer to the information about the accreditation process
at How to Become an
ANAB-Accredited Certification Body.
Applications
You can view the SFI application or ATFS application in .pdf format to understand
specific requirements but the application process must be completed
online via ANAB's EQM database; first-time EQM users must
