ISO 9001 Certifications Topped One Million Mark in 2009

The ISO Survey of Certifications - 2009 indicates that
ISO 9001 certifications topped one million in 2009. At least
1,064,785 ISO 9001 certificates had been issued in 178 countries
through December 2009, an increase of more than eight percent over
the 2008 total.
There were also big increases in certifications to ISO 22000 for
food safety management systems and ISO/IEC 27001 for information
security management systems. ISO 22000 certifications increased 69%
from 2008 to 2009 with a total of 3,881 certificates in 127
countries. ISO/IEC 27001 certifications increased 40%, with 12,934
certificates in 117 countries.
The latest survey also indicates 223,149 ISO 14001 certificates
have been issued in 159 countries, reflecting growth of more than
18% over 2008.
In addition, at least 16,424 ISO 13485 certificates had been
issued in 90 countries, a 24% increase over 2008.
The latest edition of the ISO survey includes data from 1993,
when the survey was launched, through 2009. More information is
