ANAB provides accreditation for several programs related to electromagnetic compatibility, radio, and telecommunications.
ANAB is both NIST-listed and FCC-recognized, with programs for FCC testing laboratories in the United States and non-MRA countries and programs for ISED, P25, U.S.-Mexico Telecom, and VCCI.
We've developed Supplemental Requirements (SR) documents to accompany ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation that provide information, describe laboratory requirements, and assessor and accreditation body responsibilities related to the programs.
Here’s a rundown of current programs and SR documents related to EMC, radio, and telecommunications:
- SR 2412, Supplemental Accreditation Requirements: FCC Recognition of Accredited Testing Laboratories
FCC-recognized accredited labs must be used to test products for certification or declaration of conformity in support of FCC’s equipment authorization program. ANAB is recognized to designate ISO/IEC 17025 accredited testing labs in the United States.
- SR 2427, Supplemental Accreditation Requirements: VCCI Council Accreditation Program
ANAB is recognized by the General Incorporated Foundation VCCI Council to provide accreditation laboratories seeking VCCI Council recognition. The VCCI Council recommends voluntary technical control for electromagnetic emissions from IT equipment, such as computers, telecommunication products, and electronic office products.
- SR 2428, Supplemental Accreditation Requirements: Project 25 Conformity Assessment Program for Testing Laboratories
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has recognized ANAB as an accrediting body for the Project 25 Conformity Assessment Program (P25 CAP), which standardizes interfaces among land mobile radio (LMR) systems used by first responders. The program provides emergency response agencies with evidence that the communication equipment they purchase meets P25 standards for performance, conformance, and interoperability.
- SR 2431, Supplemental Accreditation Requirements: U.S.-Mexico Telecom Program
ANAB is recognized by NIST, the designating authority under the U.S.-Mexico Telecom MRA. Under this ANAB accreditation program, accredited telecom testing laboratories can meet the requirements of the MRA and attain designation from NIST to test telecom equipment mutually acceptable to the U.S. and Mexican governments.
- SR 2435, Supplemental Accreditation Requirements: ISED Recognition of Accredited Testing Laboratories
Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISDE) has recognized ANAB to accredit testing laboratories located in non-MRA countries for testing of telecommunications equipment. ANAB can accredit testing labs located in the People’s Republic of China, Indonesia, India, Japan, the Philippines, Russia, Thailand, and Ukraine and designate them to ISED.
