ANAB provides ISO/IEC 17020 accreditation of inspection bodies for notified body activity under the Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (EMCD) and Radio Equipment Directive (RED).

The program specifies requirements for EMC and telecom/radio equipment inspection organizations seeking notified body designation described as “Option II” in the NIST Requirements & Application for U.S. Conformity Assessment Bodies Seeking EU Radio Equipment Directive (RED) 2014/53/EU Notified Body Status and/or the NIST Requirements & Application for U.S. Conformity Assessment Bodies Seeking Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (EMCD) 2014/30/EU Notified Body Status.

Under the U.S.-EU/EFTA Telecom Agreements, qualified U.S. conformity assessment bodies (CABs) can apply to the European Commission (EC) through NIST’s MRA Program Office to become a notified body under specific EU Directives.
